College of Pharmacy Practice
Membership
Mandate:
- To establish specialties that align with current and/or unmet pharmaceutical needs
- To confer specialty credentials earned through continuing education and specialist training courses
- To certify and recognize specialty credentials earned outside of Hong Kong
- To recognize outstanding professional achievements and/or exemplary leadership that has advanced the pharmacy profession and raised its stature
- To serve as a unifying voice for the advanced practice training and/or accreditation of the pharmacy profession in Hong Kong
- To represent the pharmacy profession in the circle of colleges/academies of other healthcare professions
Ordinary Membership
Registered pharmacists in Hong Kong or from overseas, practicing in any healthcare setting (inclusive of academia, government, multinational pharmaceutical companies, local drug manufacturers) are eligible to become an Ordinary Member of the College.
Pharmacists may apply for ordinary membership by completing a membership application form and paying the prescribed annual membership (HK$500). The application form is available upon request by email to admin@cpp.org.hk.

Benefits of Membership
- Priority and reduced enrolment fees for specialty training workshop(s)
- Eligibility for recognition as a College of Pharmacy Practice Specialist (upon satisfaction of the requisite criteria – see below)
- Eligibility for recognition as a College of Pharmacy Practice Fellow (upon satisfaction of the requisite criteria – see below)
Becoming a Pharmacist Specialist
An Ordinary member who has successfully completed specialist training course(s) and who has at least 5 years of experience in a specialty area recognized by the College may apply for the title of “Pharmacist Specialist”.
Becoming a Fellow
An Ordinary member with specialist title and who has practiced for at least 10 years is eligible to apply for Fellowship if he/she meets one or more of the following metrics of excellence:
- Distinguished contribution to the advancement of the pharmacy profession
- Outstanding technical management and leadership
- Distinguished record of significant publications of impact
Ordinary members who meet the following minimum criteria are eligible for consideration of the “Specialist” title granted by the College:
- Have at least 5 years of experience in a specialty area recognized by the College
- Have successfully completed specialist training courses recognized by the College
- Have been certified by a recognized overseas organization as a board certified specialist
- Have established pharmaceutical care services or new initiatives for improving patient care (service description with outcomes achieved should be provided)
- Have a distinguished record of significant publications of impact
- Have accumulated experience in teaching or training in local hospitals, teaching institutions, or other institutions
Remarks:
- Specialty areas currently recognized: Pharmacotherapy, Oncology Pharmacy, Paediatric Pharmacy, Psychiatric Pharmacy, Ambulatory Care Pharmacy, and Geriatric Pharmacy.
- List of specialist training courses and the recognition criteria will be announced in separate documents.
- Currently recognized overseas organizations include the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) and Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy (CCGP). Members can nominate other organizations for the College’s consideration.
